Strain-rate-dependent mechanics and impact performance of epoxy-based nanocomposites

چکیده

Strain-rate-dependent mechanical properties and impact performance of manufactured epoxy-based nanocomposites are investigated. As reinforcements, fumed silica (FS) halloysite nanotube (HNT) used alongside Albipox 1000 Nanopox F700. First, the internal structures composites visualised using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To identify strain-rate-dependent properties, three-point bend tests conducted at three different strain rate levels. For resistance, Charpy performed. further investigations composites, mean-field homogenisation (MFH) finite element (FE) analyses on representative volume elements (RVE) performed for each type composite material. Overall, modelling experiments in good agreement account behaviour these nanocomposites.

Epoxy-Clay Nanocomposites: Dispersion, Morphology and Performance

The exfoliated nanocomposite is of particular interest because it maximizes the interactions between polymers and clays, and thus it should result in dramatic improvements in mechanical and physical properties. However, it seems to be very difficult to exfoliate organoclay in epoxy resins. Organoclay is always aggregated on the micro-scale in epoxy resins with conventional dispersion methods. B...

The Impact of Interfacial Adhesion on the Strain- To-failure of Montmorillonite/epoxy Nanocomposites

In polymer nanocomposites, many researchers suspect that the weak interface between the host matrix and nanoparticles is responsible for the often observed reduction in the strain-to-failure relative to the pristine host matrix [1]. In 2004, a new test methodology [2] was proposed for observing the onset of clay-matrix debonding in transparent clay based nanocomposites, with the debonding proce...

Properties of Epoxy/SiO2 - and Epoxy/ZrO2 - Nanocomposites

The synthesis, structure and mechanical properties of inorganic organic nanocomposites are investigated: The systems consist of an aliphatic amine cured Bisphenol-F-based epoxy resin as organic matrix and SiO2 and ZrO2 nanoparticles as inorganic fillers. Silica and zirconia nanoparticles have been prepared in two different size ranges, one in the upper nano range (30-60 nm) and other in the low...

Radar Absorbing Nanocomposites Based MultiLayered Graphene Platelets/Epoxy

Graphene nanostructures were synthesized by Hummer method. 1, 3, 5 and 7 wt% of graphene nanostructures were suspended in certain amount of acetone on a mechanical stirrer and stirred then added to epoxy resin. After 4 hours, solution and Graphene platelets (GPs) were prepared. Nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM ), Fourier transform i...

Rate dependent finite strain constitutive modeling of polyurethane and polyurethane–clay nanocomposites

A finite strain nonlinear viscoplastic constitutive model for polyurethane (PU)–Montmorillonite clay (MTM) nanocomposites is developed with the goal of characterizing the mechanical response under different strain rates and strain amplitudes. In this model, both the elastic and viscous responses are considered to be nonlinear. It is shown that a simple mathematical extension of the model used t...
